Postcode Variables

A number of other key postcode level variables have been created and are useful for any organisation wishing to carry out analysis at a micro level. The 2007 variables include:- number of households, number of people, number of adults, income, age, children in household, household size and tenure.

Expenditure Data

The Household Expenditure datasets cover over 40 categories of household expenditure. The data is derived from the Expenditure and Food Survey (EFS), which is undertaken annually by the Office for National Statistics (ONS) - the most consistent and detailed source of this type of data.

New house builds

Two databases are available to identify areas of new house builds across the country. The first is a list of postcodes that are under construction or are at the planning stage. This file is useful to understand where potential areas of growth may occur in the future.

The second data source is a list of postcodes that have recently been constructed. This file can be used to illustrate areas that have recently been subject to property development. Both these sources provide the ability to identify areas of the country that are likely to experience population growth.
